The Attorney of the Year Award is given to a local attorney who has provided exceptional service to his or her clients, served the needs of a diverse client base with great success, and has inspired the membership of our organization through their ethical law practice and track record for serving the local community, especially communities of color.

Senator Ford is a commercial litigation partner at Snell & Wilmer L.L.P. with an emphasis in contract and real estate disputes, employment law (domestic and international), and public/education law. Dr. Ford received his undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University in 1990. He earned a Master’s degree from George Washington University, and a Master’s degree, Juris Doctor, and Doctorate degree from Ohio State University.

Senator Ford exemplifies excellence in every aspect of his life. He had received many awards throughout his legal career, including: Mountain States Super Lawyers (2011, 2012, and 2013), 40 Under 40 by In Business Las Vegas, Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year, Texas “Rising Star,” “Top Lawyers Under 40 in Dallas,” Dallas Bar Association Board of Director’s Award of Excellence, and Dallas Bar Association’s Outstanding Minority Bar Leader Award. Additionally, Senator Ford has been the recipient of numerous international fellowships, including American Marshall Memorial Fellowship, International Exchange to New Zealand, British American Project, and US-Japan Leadership Program.

He has served on several boards and is a member of several organizations, including Executive Board of the Clark County Democratic Party, Las Vegas Urban Chamber of Commerce, Olive Crest of Southern Nevada, Junior Achievement, Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, the 100 Black Men of America, and the National Bar Association.

In 2012, Dr. Ford was elected State Senator for Nevada’s 11th District. He received numerous commendations for his public service as a senator, including being named Best Senate Freshman by the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Rookie of the Year by the Reno Gazette Journal, Senator of the Year by the Nevada Humane Society, and the Nevada Conservation League.

Dr. Ford is married to Berna L. Rhodes-Ford. Together they raise four children, Avery, Devin, Aaron II, and Alexander.
