Assemblyman William Horne, the incumbent in Nevada Assembly District 34, was reelected in the 2012 election. District 34 is in Clark County and, according to the 2010 census, had a population of 64,461 of which approximately 13% are African-American.
Assemblyman Horne is a LVNBA member and has a B.A. in Criminal Justice from the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) and a J.D. from the UNLV William S. Boyd School of Law.
Assemblyman Horne has served in the Nevada Assembly since 2003 and will serve until 2014 in his current term. In the Assembly, he has held numerous leadership positions including Majority Leader and Majority Whip. He has also chaired various committees such as the Judiciary Committee, the Corrections, Parole, and Probation Committee, and the Advisory Commission on the Administration of Justice.
Assemblyman Horne has also served as a member of the Gaming Policy Committee, the Nevada Commission on Homeland Security, and the Nevada State Councils for Interstate Adult Offender Supervision and Juvenile Supervision.
